$6.13 Million Liability

Jun 2, 2014 | General

A Superior Court judge found the two previous owners of the former Kiddie Kollege child care center site liable for remediation costs and non-compliance with NJDEP regulations. The total liability totaled $6.13 million.
The Kiddie Kollege site is located in Franklin Township in Gloucester County and was historically used as a mercury thermometer manufacturing facility, Accutherm, Inc. Historic mercury contamination was present and the property subsequently was divested in a tax sale to Jim Sullivan, Inc. Kiddie Kollege occupied the site through 2006, with children exposed to the toxic chemical.
The Kiddie Kollege site prompted the current day NJDEP and NJDOH regulations governing the proper environmental assessment for all new and relocating child care and educational facilities. The full NJDEP news release can be found at http://bit.ly/1hjx0zg
