Air Sampling Required for Hair Salons, Too

Oct 27, 2014 | Indoor Air

Add hair salons onto the list of establishments that require indoor air sampling for child care center compliance and licensing.  The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) oversees indoor environmental health assessments and has a licensing program in place.

If a hair or nail salon, service station, industrial or other high hazard site has the potential to impact indoor air, a Licensed Indoor Environmental Consultant (LIEC) must be hired to complete the NJDOH forms for submission.  Air analyses typically include volatile organics and formaldehyde, although other compounds may be required by the NJDOH.  **NJDOH WEBSITE**
