Formaldehyde Testing Now Offered

Apr 27, 2014 | Indoor Air

Sakson is pleased to announce that we now offer air formaldehyde air testing.  Formaldehyde is a colorless, yet pungent gas (think high school biology class!).  It is commonly used in nail salons as a varnish and some hair salons to smooth curly hair.   It can also be used as an embalming agent, and disinfectant.  Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen.

For child care licensing, the New Jersey Department of Health often requires air sampling for formaldehyde if a child care center is located near a potential source.  Like sampling for volatile organics, ambient and indoor samples are collected to determine any impact.  Tests are usually conducted for 8 hours, and the standard laboratory turnaround time is 2 weeks, with a cost of approximately $100 per sample.  For more information, please contact our office.
